First, I’d like to wish a Happy New Year to you! There is every indication that 2010 promises to be quite successful for all who are ready to work hard and will show talent and expertise. The recession processes has been affecting the whole regions, countries as well as large segments of the global jewellery market for the past year. For example, the rapid growth of the number of members of Responsible Jewellery Council is very demonstrative, and this is an organisation that approves the membership of only those participants of the jewellery market which meet its certification system that is built on the high business standards. UFBJOP set up one brand Joaillerie de France that can only include products made in France and based on quality standards, regulations, ethical and social obligations. Leading Russian companies signed up a “Responsible partnership agreement” a year ago and made a commitment not to use dubious methods of optimisation of the tax payments.
In that way the process of some shrinking of the market should lead to its sanitation. All the “shadow” structures, companies that practice smuggling, counterfeit, illegal advertising methods and fraud of the customers are forced out of the market.
The process of cutting of the customs for the import of coloured gems will start in Russia from January, 1. This is what the jewellers were trying to achieve for a long time, and now it’s a high time to set up routes of the coloured gems supply to Russian manufacturers. The participation in the 10th jewellery exhibition “Golden Ring of Russia” in Kostroma at the end of June will be a great opportunity for the suppliers of gemstones from Thailand, China and India. Kostroma region is the main centre of the Russian jewellery production with more than 2000 producers. This exhibition will be covered by participants from all regions of Russia and directors of all leading companies.
Recession is a good time for innovations. Every issue of Russian Diamonds and Jewellery this year will feature a large information block on one of the main problems. The January issue is mostly dedicated to gemstones. The main topic of the February issue will be “Technology”, which includes machines and equipment for the jewellery production and trade, packaging, care products for jewels, etc. More than one third of the March edition will present a review of the current design trends of the spring – summer season, which will be shown at the international and Russian exhibitions of the beginning of the year.
And the whole information on the most significant events of the jewellery market of Russia and CIS countries you can get as Russian Diamonds & Jewellery subscriber in 2010.
